Welcome to Twig & Ink!
I’m Lisa Kahn Schnell.
When I studied plant ecology in graduate school, I edited my advisor’s papers. When I write picture books, I focus on science (and I love the research!). And when I finally decided to make art—after years of wandering aimlessly through art stores and feeling jealous of friends who could draw—the natural world became my favorite subject.
I am excited about the organizations, work, and people who exist at the intersection of all three of these disciplines: science, art, AND writing. (I think of it as SAW). I’m sick of trying to choose, so I’m going to camp out right here, in the middle of it all, and see what I discover.
The truth is, I’ve already discovered a lot. I’ll share what I’ve found on Twig & Ink, so keep reading! But there’s plenty more still to explore, and I hope that this will become a place where I get to learn about new ideas and resources from readers, too.
If you have suggestions of people, organizations, or work you’d like to see featured on Twig & Ink, please let me know. For now, I plan to post once a month. I intend to keep this resource free for everyone, but if you’d like to pledge your support for my work, I would appreciate it.
Again, welcome! I’m glad you’re here.
