Welcome!

My name is Lisa Kahn Schnell. I love science, art, and writing—each on their own, but especially all together.

I am a picture book author, an artist, and I love using my background in science to find ways to connect people with the natural world. You can learn more about my horseshoe crab book here and see examples of my ongoing Tree-a-Day project here.

Twig & Ink will feature the people and organizations doing the sort of Science-Art-Writing work that inspires me and makes me happy—artists who find creative ways to bring science to a wider audience; scientists who explore art as a way of observing and understanding their subjects; nonfiction science picture book authors, artists, and enthusiasts; nature sketchers (sketch biologists, nature journalers, etc.), and anyone else who pays close attention to the natural world and has stories to tell. I will also share occasional updates about my own work.

To receive new Twig & Ink posts in your inbox, please subscribe! The newsletter is free.

Thank you for being here. I look forward to hearing about your discoveries at the intersection of science, art, and writing.

Lisa
