Thank you for the photo of your treasured art. It is truly special. My granddaughter just entered the second grade and they begin the year with the study of birds. The class has groups with each group representing a bird that they will study throughout the year. She is excited. First grade was insect and bugs from top to bottom. You start that conversation and you will be overwhelmed with information.
Lisa, I have long thought that “ noticing” is a skill crucial to a number of things that interest me such as creativity, learning and leadership. A book I think you would enjoy is “ On Looking: Eleven Walks with Expert Eyes,” by Alexandra Horowitz.
Yes! "Noticing" almost seems too simple to matter as much as it does, though maybe that's exactly why it matters. And thank you for the book recommendation. I just did a quick search, and it looks terrific!
That's a great question, and not one I have thought much about. Garamond and Palatino Linotype are my preferred for feeling in a "writing" mode, because they are prettier than Calibri standard by Microsoft.

That sounds like such a thoughtful, in-depth project! I hope it leads to a lifelong love--or at least appreciation--of birds and other wild things.

I agree - if font design is not a type of art, I don't know what is!
Yes! Great example. Do you have any favorites?
